Alot of Questions i Have...
Hello,
Im currently gonna be buying a little mic setup, but i dont got much dough, I have reviewed the Mic Thread....
Im gonna get the MXL 990....
Now im wondering do i also need to buy a mic cord? if so whats a good one?
Im sorry to make this a thread, but basically if i have ne-more questions, i can just toss them instead of making a new thread...
Im gonna get the "ART Tube MP Studio Mic Preamp" so yea...Unless you all suggest something else....
But thats it for now...
...Thank you all for taking the time...

Re: Help in This real quick...
xlr female - 1/4 male... & 1/4 male to 1/8 male...
just tell someone when you buy the mic that you need those two cords... spend around 20+ on each... buy monster or something else good...
Re: Help in This real quick...
Brandon Heat - Are you saying i need Both cords, Why? should'nt it be just a certain cord? it's gonna be the MXL 990 and imma get it from musciansfriend.com...

Re: Help in This real quick...
a quick update:
I currently searched around trying to find the exact type of cable needed, and i read this...
XLR 3-pin Connector (normal Mic Cable)
Edit: Okay i see what you mean now, thank you... I will look into getting them... When i get the whole setup i will keep this little thread updated with any questions i may have...
Thanks again

Re: Help in This real quick...
Okay i pretty much have the whole setup figured out, but would a regular instrument cable like this one http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...ble?sku=331638
Work for connecting the preamp to the pc?
Now im actually changing my mind on the mics again.... So this is what i have to choose from now....
1. Behringer B-1
2. AKG Perception 100
3. Audio-Technica AT2020
4. Nady SCM 1000
Those are what im looking at right now...
So i have no idea what to get, i keep running back and forth..It gets irritating... any advice? besides hang myself from a pipe in the basement, i tried that Hahahaha...
Thanks...

AT AKG
only difference i see is "Max SPL dB 140-149 130-139"
and just wondering is there any shockmounts that would fit any one of those?
Thank you...

Re: Help in This real quick...
AT2020 or AKG Perception
im not familiar with either mic, and havent heard alot about either mic.
you probably need to find some sort of way to test those mics... they're pretty cheap so you shouldnt have a problem finding them at a local music store
Re: Help in This real quick...
the higher the max spl the better... but I've used the 2020... it's not bad... I heard it was better than the akg... but Kris is right... test them...
Re: Help in This real quick...
Well see the thing that sucks is, im not sure where there is a music store about in my area...
Why is More SPL better?
Ohh and okay, What if i upgrade that AKG to the 200?
But one thing, that i asked, that i need a more understanding on is " but would a regular instrument cable like this one http://www.musiciansfriend.com/prod...able?sku=331638
Work for connecting the preamp to the pc? "
Cause imma be gettin all this probably next week....
Thank you...

Re: Help in This real quick...
the higher the max spl... the louder you can record... that's all... spl = sound pressure level...
the physical intensity of sound
Re: Help in This real quick...
Brandon Heat - Thanks, now i understand that more...
I read what opey said "btw, a 1/4" cord is just a regular instrument cord that u would see on an electric guitar etc." So i believe i can just get a regular cable like what i mentioned... unless im totally understanding what opey said...
Im still Comparing mics, but with the little bit more knowledge i have received, i can more or less, just narrow it down more, and go from there...
When i get everything i will post up an update, and probably be all okay it dont work...Hahaha...
Quick little question here: is it better to have a mic stand to where you have to stand, or is a desktop stand fine?
- DraStiK
Re: Help in This real quick...
mic stand is better...when I stand up and record my delivery is more where I want it to be...plus you can extend it so you can sit ya lazy ass down if you want to therefore rendering a desktop stand useless...
Re: Help in This real quick...
mic stand... don't get an instrument cable... get a mix xlr to 1/4 specifically... quality is better in most cases... plus that's what you'll need.
Re: Help in This real quick...
Brandon Heat - Okay i really do appreciate all the help you are giving me, and i do appoligize to keep buggin..
You mentioned before to get "xlr female - 1/4 male... & 1/4 male to 1/8 male.."
Now im gettin the ART Tube MP Studio Preamp, But i dont know if the Output is a male or female, ive read the manual, but i dont see anything about it...
Thanks again...
