I got it yesterday, only played a little bit but I like it so far. It's amazing how well the Source engine has aged. I haven't got to any really tricky puzzles yet but the dialogue is as hilarious as ever.

well i have The Orange Box which has Portal 1 in it and i played through it all again since PSN is down and yea.. not my thing. it was a pretty kick ass puzzle game but i'm not the puzzle type. i wanna just shoot people in the face when i play FPS. but i'll probably still play it. it is a pretty dope game.
I beat the first one and I liked it. I like games that require using your head. The lack of action sucks but the puzzles make up for it. I like the sarcasm from the crazy computer.. lol.

thats because Valve is smart....they didnt build the source engine with limitations or an "end".....they leave it open, so they can make it evolve....the Source engine can grow and change...i mean shit, Counter Strike: Source is old as fuck, and they STILL add new shit to it and update it....because the engine can evolve....Originally Posted by Dan Dare

Source owns the Unreal engines, source owns whatever the fuck call of duty is run on, Source owns Bethesdas engine....nothing can touch it....
it never has to be re-written from the ground up...it only has to be patched....
EDIT: AND the Source engine is open source as long as your only modding....people can make all the games they want, for free, with no limitations as long as its a mod, and not a full fledged commercial application...

actually the Call of Duty games use a lot of different engines. that's why they are perfect and don't need to be open end to "evolve".

I'm pretty sure no.1 was just made as a gaming engine test or something like that and with number 2 they've actually put in a lot of effort in making it an enjoyable game.
I could be wrong though cause I can't even remember where I heard that, and I'm pretty sure the person telling me was drunk :hosea1:

you are wrong. Portal was an actual game. it was originally released and bundled with The Orange Box but was later re-released several times as a stand alone game. in fact, you can still buy it through Steam.
