Thread: A Poet's Prayer

    A Poet's Prayer

On this day, I cannot create
    I cannot write
    I've drawn a blank and,
    There is nothing there, but-
    Empty spaces
    Where my words should be

Oh, the reality of the things that is
    And, what could be?

    Those things, which are inscribed
Upon the tables of my heart:
    Yet, inexpressive of my thoughts
    To of which and when,
    My Writers' Block departs
Seated at my desk, is where I shall be
    To create again

    Relieve me of this hollowness,
This absence, this emptiness and void
    Dub thee begetter of words
    Persuade my inventiveness
    To Produce & Cultivate
That I may give birth to a poem
    A Poet's Request

Words are the key that bring forth the unique power.
Emotions become intense as I feel the universal flow.
The message now streams through me and out to the flowing ink.
Paper now takes in the message that you the readers can relate.
My excitement continues as more surges fill my poetic needs

i thought of this as a poem at first..and then i reread the title and the piece.....and this is best as a prayer...prolly one i will tape to my desk....but as a poem im sick of the topic 'writers block' no matter the approach...its been a while since ive seen anyone do it right....but this was a beautiful prayer......in fact i wil print it and put it on my desk.....respect..-shi-

i agree, a poem topic over written too much, but yet a beautiful prayer. i know we all think around those lines in our dried up times, and i feel you did a great job with this. and it passes as a poem too with the good lines and rhythm to it and all that jazz. but i love it as a prayer, i never really thought about praying for poetic inspiration and help before so this was a new idea.

When I first started reading this I thought of it as very simplistic but then when i read on, you had some deep emotion in this and it was worded beautifully. I agree with what the others said about it being a prayer. Overall nice job. Keep it up..hope to read more from you.

    peace,
